Activity Modules
Moodle contains a wide range of activity modules that can be used to build up any type of course.
Hot Potatoes
After students have attempted the quizzes, a number of reports are available which show how individual questions were answered and some statistical trends in the scores.

Brainstorming
- Everyone's contribution is valued, and no comment or criticism is given until all the contributions are listed;
- Everyone has the option to participate, or not;
- Wild ideas are as welcome as sober ones in the ideas-generating stage;
- Everyone's idea must be expressed in a single sentence or using keywords.
Brainstorming is useful in the initial stages of a task, for example for gathering a range of ideas or finding out what students already know collectively.
It's useful to set some ground rules for brainstorming, which can include:
Chats
Journals
Questionnaire
The questionnaire module allows you to construct questionnaires (surveys) using a variety of question types, for the purpose of gathering data from users. It is based on phpESP, and Open Source questionnaire tool. See http://phpesp.sourceforge.net
Choices

This module provide students a way of fast memoizing list of "things". This is a typical indexing exercise, where a map of coupled things should be learned and retained. We say "thing" because either key or value could be any related pair of text, images or sounds.
This module implements a full Leitner system to mechanically support the memoization process of the relationships. The couples to be learned are first attached to a deck of cards. These are initially considered as difficult to learn. The teacher can choose a learning curve using 2, 3 or 4 decks. 4 decks should be used for large set of definitions. When the student fails answering a card, he will tell it and let the card stay in the same deck. If he has the correct answer, he will ask for passing the card to the second deck, so considered as less difficult to learn. The process is repeated for all decks till the last one where card will remain. The decks are triggered so the student knows which he should review. Difficult cards will trigger more often thant trivial cards. Trigger delays are adjustable.
When a student do not apply for reviewing decks, cards may downgrade automatically to an higher difficulty deck.
The module allows also a free use of the cards, enabled by module configuration. The module is customisable graphically using a teacher defined CSS and image set.
Flash Video
You can use this module to add a flash video contents (flv files) These files can be uploaded to the server or can be hosted in a streaming server like red5 or fms.
The Flash Video module has been developed by Rashan Anushka @ UCSC The video player component (flvplayer) used here is developed by Jeroen Wijering (http://www.jeroenwijering.com)

Glossary
This activity allows participants to create and maintain a list of definitions, like a dictionary.
The entries can be searched or browsed in many different formats.
The glossary also allows teachers to export entries from one glossary to another (the main one) within the same course.
Finally, it is possible to automatically create links to these entries from throughout the course.
JClic
JClic is a project of the Catalan Ministry of Education. It consists of a set of open source software applications that allow for the creation of several types of multimedia educational activities: puzzles, association games, text activities, crosswords, wordsearch games and more. Besides, the ClicZone offers a repository where more than a thousand activities are displayed. It has been created by teachers and other professionals who want to share their work with others.
This module will show teachers how to add JClick activities to any course and how to track pupils' results (time spent on each of the activities, number of tries, score...)

inwicast
This file contains the main description of the newmodule module. Usually, it's used to explain the main features of the activity, with a natural language. Also, the overall process of the activity is detailed here with its pedagogical foundation.
From a developer perspective, this "help" directory will contain simple html files like this that you will be able to link from newmodule code when any sort of explanation is necessary (it's easier to add those links automatically, both from the formslib stuff (see mod_form.php) and from everywhere else (see the helpbutton() function).
Also, don't forget to add one link to this help file from the newmodule/help "index.html" file, it will allow Moodle to show all the existing help files related to the module when the complete list of available help files is requested.
Please, replace me with the real information about the newmodule!

This activity allows one to construct menus with various link types. This activity's primary use is to provide navigation for the Page Course Format.

Wikis
A Wiki enables documents to be authored collectively in a simple markup language using a web browser.
"Wiki wiki" means "super fast" in the Hawaiian language, and it is the speed of creating and updating pages that is one of the defining aspects of wiki technology. Generally, there is no prior review before modifications are accepted, and most wikis are open to the general public or at least to all persons who also have access to the wiki server.
The Moodle Wiki module enables participants to work together on web pages to add, expand and change the content. Old versions are never deleted and can be restored.
This module is based on Erfurt Wiki.
